What is Reiki Healing?

Reiki is a word that is derived from two Japanese words. Rei which means spirit, or ghost. Ki, which is one of the most powerful words in the Japanese language. Ki has many meanings and is used quite often in conjunction with other prefixes and suffixes. However, in Reiki, the meaning of Ki is energy. Therefore, the grand meaning of Reiki is translated to “spiritual energy.”
Energy healing, other wise known as spiritual healing, is best described as healing without the use of medicines. The mind, the spirit, and the earth’s energy, all assist in the healing process of an individual. There is no physical aspect of Reiki healing. Reiki must, also, not be confused with religion. Reiki is not a religion as some may think.
Life coaching states that we have life because of a natural force. This natural life force is responsible for all of our thoughts, whether negative or positive. The life force is also responsible for our feelings. The thoughts and feelings together affect the organs within the body. Positive thoughts will create a positive energy. This positive energy will send positive vibes toward the ailing body and create a positive force thus increasing the natural healing properties within.
In opposition of the positive energy, there is negative energy that surrounds individuals as well. Though Reiki healing focuses on, mainly, the positive energy, healers believe that the negative thoughts and feelings have a great impact on the source of illness. Negativeness will create negative vibrations in the body. These negative vibrations will travel to different body parts and create illness.
Reiki healing primarily uses relaxation techniques. This practice steers the ill individual to have a reduction in his or her stress levels. The client will lay on a table similar to a massage table. The Reiki healer will gently place his or hands on the requesting client. The healer will move their hands slowly and place directly against the client’s skin. The positive energy will flow directly from the spiritual healer into the body of the client. The healer will place their hands on different body parts such as the neck and shoulders, stomach, feet, and head. Hand positions are held for approximately 10 minutes eat. The entire healing treatment lasts about 60 minutes on average.
Although it is most common to have Reiki treatments in person, you may have treatments from a distance. These treatments require that the healer have a picture, a written name, or having the person on the healer’s mind. These are called distant symbols. Instead of laying hands on the client, the healer will send positive thoughts to the client. Distant Reiki is used many times on dignitaries, world leaders, and individuals who have endured a major crisis.
Learning Reiki healing only takes a few hours to learn. While learning how to become a Reiki Healer, the Master Healer, or teacher, will complete a thorough Reiki healing on the student. This is called an attunement. Similarly, it is the process of passing a torch to another person.
